Embroker vs Vouch
Both are online brokers for startups; Embroker adds its own programs and law-firm cover, Vouch is a pure broker with fund-manager and life-science practices.
Verdict
Embroker and Vouch both sell management liability and tech insurance to startups through an online application, and both are brokers, not insurers. Neither holds a financial strength rating, and neither ranks in the NAIC premium tables. The rating that counts is the issuer's, which differs policy by policy. Both were founded within three years of each other (Embroker in 2015, Vouch in 2018), both are venture-backed and both are licensed as producers in all 50 states and D.C.
The structural difference is what sits behind the website. Embroker is a digital broker and also designs its own programs, which appointed retail and wholesale brokers sell through Embroker Access. Its programs run on Everest National paper, which its pages describe as AM Best A+, and Everspan Indemnity, which they describe as A- (Excellent), both as stated in 2026. That gives it lawyers professional liability for firms of 1 to 25 attorneys and an excess tech E&O and cyber product up to $5 million. Vouch was a broker, MGA and insurer for several years, but in August 2025 Hiscox agreed to buy its MGA arm, Corix, and Vouch Insurance Company; Hiscox closed the Corix purchase on August 11, 2025, and signed a multi-year distribution deal with Vouch. Vouch is now a pure broker that says it shops more than 80 carriers.
Both disclose that they earn commissions and contingent pay. Embroker also lists client fees agreed before binding, and Vouch says card and ACH fees may be passed through. Price depends on your stage, revenue and loss history, so it is reasonable to quote both.

Before choosing, read which insurer is on the proposal, whether it is admitted or surplus lines (Embroker's terms note surplus lines carriers lack state guaranty fund backing), and whether the policy is claims-made, with retroactive dates. Embroker's terms ask you to work with it exclusively for the brokerage services unless agreed otherwise, so check what an existing broker would have to give up.
